On June 18th, Mary McAllister and I flew to Malawi to begin a two week visit to one of the most fascinating countries in the world. While there, as part of a British Council Global Schools Partnership Reciprocal Grant programme, we visited Kapalamula and Nakoma Primary Schools and learned so much about this amazing county. This is our story......(please start at Day 1)

Chilling out with the Sisters
During one of our forays into the shop to get water we ran into two nuns who had just moved up from Blantyre to start their missionary work in Balaka. While chatting, they invited us to come visit them. I think they were actually a little surprised when we showed up at their doorstep the next day. We had a few difficulties finding their compound (associated with the Montfort Missions) but found them eventually with the help from Stevie. We broke a cardinal rule of not allowing anyone in our car but we figured since he worked at the Catholic TV station, he must have been a kind soul!! He delivered us safely to Sister Merie and Mary. Having just moved in the day before, they were lacking in a lot of furniture, but the good china cups came out and we were offered a nice hot drink using the big satellite tv box as the table!! Brilliant. On a funnier note, we were exchanging email addresses and I had difficulties hearing what Merie had said. I thought her address was @yahoo.god instead of the proper @yahoo.com.co.uk. Needless to say Mary nearly died laughing with my mistake!! The sisters also enjoyed the laugh too.
