St. Peter's Seminary and partying with the Fathers

From Kapalamula Primary we headed down to Zomba about an hour's drive away along a beautiful drive.  Zomba was the capital of Malawi and remained so until 1974, when Lilongwe became the capital. The city is best known for its British Colonial architecture and its location at the base of the dramatic Zomba Plateau.
We arrived in Zomba just as night fell (about 6:30).  Due to the petrol crisis, there were huge queues in the town at all the filling stations with rumours of petrol arriving that evening.  Much later in the night, Matthew headed out and filled the car up again  and had to wait for about an hour in the lines.
Matthew arranged that we would be staying in St. Peter's Major Seminary.  Much better than our first experience of a seminary, St. Peter's is geared for guests and as such have dormitory rooms available. Mary and I had one with hot water and an ensuite bathroom.
That evening, one of the priests who taught at the seminary was having his leaving party before returning to Zambia.  You can imagine how surreal it was for Mary and I to be sitting in a room with 30 priests (in every day clothe) four nuns and another four non-clergy women at this party!  There was BBQ meat (beef, chicken and pork) that kept coming out and pink South African wine from a box!!  Then to just make it even weirder, we spent the night watching Andy Murray at Wimbledon!!  Only in Malawi I think.  It was a fun night though and a good laugh
